Confessions of a Domestic Failure

Now a USA Today Bestseller- thanks guys :)

Five years ago I had an idea for a book. It would be called Confessions of a Domestic Failure and be for moms like me who drive trash cans on wheels and order pizza more than they'd like to admit.

It would be for moms whose living rooms look like a bomb went on in a thrift store, whose kitchen sinks always have dirty dishes in them, whose counters are never clear, and who live in leggings and hoodies.

The book would be for moms who love their babies with a fiery fierceness but sometimes cry in the bathroom when it's all too much.

I wanted to write a book for moms who don't know how to make motherhood photogenic, but wouldn't trade their life for anything. No, I haven't showered today. No, I haven't had breakfast unless coffee counts as food. No, I haven't brushed my teeth but I did chew gum. I'm working on making friends but until then, I have the UPS guy to make feel awkward with my overshares. By 4PM every day I feel like I'm going to explode and collapse from the mere weight of the responsibility that is caring for the people I love the most and reject my meals, but it's ok because I'm not the only one doing it.

I'm a mom. I'm ridiculously messy. I'm kind of always in survival mode but I heat up quesadillas and give out hugs like a boss.

Confessions of a Domestic Failure is out today and as I sit here in my garbage-mobile, waiting for my 3-year-old to wake up from his nap (naptime is at 10 when you wake up at 5:30am), my heart is full.

I hope you love my book. I hope it makes you feel less alone. Because you're not. Rock on, mamas.

Love, Bunmi

"Where can I get it?" Most bookstores and online! Thank you, guys. Seriously. Thank you. 💗 I'm celebrating by ordering Chinese food tonight. So basically a regular Tuesday. ☺️
