Not All Money is Good Money

ree

Hi friend! I hope you're having the best week.

So, I run a group of over 90k work-at-home moms (and moms who want to work at home). I started the group on what felt like a whim and it blew up faster than I could have imagined.

I've been a work-at-home mom from the start. Motherhood was always my dream and I knew I wanted those long afternoons at the park and not to have to ask anyone for time off, but the reality was, I also needed to help with household bills.

I decided to pitch a local Los Angeles baby food company and asked if I could have a job marketing their baby food to mom groups. They said yes! And with my baby girl in a baby carrier and wearing their company t-shirt, we drove to mom group meetups all over southern California where I passed out coupons and baby food samples.

That was my first work-at-home job. Later it became marketing online, media, and then writing.

I know what it takes to work from home as a mom and have had a lot of fun helping other moms do the same.

The group has a website and podcast so we've attracted some really cool advertisers. But recently, I had an experience where God taught me that not all money is good money.

In this episode called "Not all Money is Good Money" I also talk about the Ministry of Motherhood and how the Good Shepherd (Yeshua) taught me how to not be afraid of or discount the holiness, importance, and beauty of being a mom.

The world doesn't really value motherhood. It's often seen as something getting in the way of more important, visible work.

But God taught me how important it is and showed me how much my children really needed me. I was so busy, I went through a time where I didn't see it. I was so focused on what was going on "out there" that I missed that my kids deeply needed much more of my presence, help, and discipleship.

Trust His timing. Kids grow up. They get independent at different rates. Don't rush it. Be the mom they need you to be right now. It's way more fun when you're not fighting it.

The mom they need today, is not the mom they'll need in five years. Or ten years. Things change. But the love given, care given, and time spent with children is like watering and planting a harvest you'll see grow years from now. Just be with them.

In this episode, I talk about just that.

How Staying Focused Keeps You Afloat

In the last post I wrote about how in the story of Nehemiah, two men called Sanballat and Tobiah were instantly disturbed by Nehemiah's plan to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Then they laughed and accused Nehemiah of doing wrong. Nehemiah didn't fight them or go on a tirade defending himself. His answer to his newly formed panel of agitators was to state his unmoving faith in God. Even as they spread falsehoods against Nehemiah, he prevailed. How? He kept his eyes on the One who had given him his project. Focus will keep you on track and even in joy as you work. Keep reading.

Rejecting Every False Prophecy/Curse & Choosing God's Vision

When Sanballat and his buddies realized he could not attack Nehemiah's body, they tried to attack his mind with accusations. When they realized the attacks on the mind did not work, they tried to attack his spirit by having him come into physical agreement with false prophecy of imminent attack and death ("they will come and kill you").

What has been falsely prophesied over your work? That it's not a good time to start? That the economy isn't good enough? That no one will like your work? That it will fail? That you're not the one to do it? The enemy cannot physically make you stop but he will try to discourage and discredit you. Come out of agreement with any false prophetic word and come into agreement God's sight for your project. Keep reading.
